Admission is open to advanced flute students ages 18 to 27 who are
beginning to embark on a professional flute performance career.
Under the direction of internationally proclaimed flutist Mark Sparks, this intensive five-day seminar will focus on developing the imperative skills for the emerging flute artist. Students will take part in courses focusing on aspects of performance primarily in the area of the orchestral discipline. These aspects include playing fundamentals, audition skills, solo and ensemble playing, and general knowledge and approach to performance of a specific set of fundamental orchestral works. Special attention will be given to each student, with clear instruction regarding conceptual and practical goals. The Innsbrook environment will encourage focused work and attention to detail, while the peaceful surroundings and natural beauty of Innsbrook will inspire relaxation and opportunities for personal reflection. Students will also be able to participate in the Innsbrook Institute schedule of activities if they wish.

exposition, with or without piano
accompaniment
• A mainstream French Romantic solo, such
as Faure, Fantasie or Enesco, Cantabile and
Presto, with or without piano accompaniment
• Mainstream orchestral solos from:
-Mendelssohn: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Scherzo, 2 measures before P-end
-Beethoven: Leonore Overture #3, mm. 328-360
-Ravel: Daphnis et Chloe Suite #2, #176-179
-Brahms: Symphony #4, fourth movement solo, mm. 89-105
